Handsome Like Gomer (2007-10-02)

Piercingly handsome. Not like a prize bull at the state fair, or a new suit from J.C. Penny. No, George Clooney is the kind of handsome man that hurts his entire gender. He makes the rest of us look like smashed pumpkins compared to his Jack-o-lantern good looks. Gomer looked like that once. A smashed pumpkin I mean. He was working part-time for Horace Whitherspoon down at the town playhouse one summer working the lights. Horace asked ol' Gomer to play the part of an old Eskimo in the Doyle Bluffs presentation of 'The Mighty Quinn.' To make him seem more realistic, Gomer made some dye from carrot juice, walnut sludge and rhubarb pulp to put on his face. The pigment worked great, except it didn't wash off, for almost 4 months. The poor guy looked like a burnt pumpkin for prom that year. Gomer is such a...Gomer. George Clooney on the other hand is not a Gomer at all. He is more of an Ira. He is cool, good-looking, suave and has the stage presence of a Clark Gable or Cary Grant. He is smooth and comfortable in his role as a back robber in the film. Jennifer Lopez is his sassy FBI counterpart in this fast moving thriller which has humor, action and suspense all built in. A great supporting cast lends to the enjoyment of the movie and Bunny even liked it. I had to remind her a half dozen times that George is young enough to be her son, but she just shrugged it off and sighed at his every move. Piercingly handsome men are a curse to the male race. They make it hard for women to remember that beauty, like walnut stain, is only skin deep. They both with fade with time. Right Gomer? Maybe someday the Doyle Bluffs playhouse will put on a play called 'The Mighty Ira' and they will need to get George Clooney to play the lead. Bunny will get a kick out of that. The movie was very good and I give it a Rooster

A Rooster! 3.5 Stars Out of 4 (2009-06-14)

The Bottom Line: A smart, sexy, and well-directed thriller that races through its running length and ends perfectly, Out of Sight may be remembered now for relaunching Steven Soderbergh... (More)

I liked it. Good combo of drama, light action, comedy and good acting primarily from supporting players. (More)
