Delightful Dan (2007-12-02)

Simply delightful. I took my folks to see this movie and since they don't make it down to the Maverick very often, I was hoping that Dan in Real Life would not be a dud. We had a blast. Steve Carell gave his best performance in a movie thus far. This is saying alot because he has really been on a roll. I don't want to tell Bunny, but I'm simply in love with Juliette Binoche. Ever since the movie Chocolat, she has been a favorite and I only wish the French actress was in more films in the US. The film is about a young widower who finds surprise love on a weekend with his family in Rhode Island. The only problem is, she is already attached to his brother. The heartwarming and fun antics will leave you smiling. Dane Cook is great as a brother and the whole family makes you wish that you could go and spend the holidays with them. I enjoyed the humor and simply family messages of the film. I highly recommend this movie. And take a date. The rooster crows for Dan.

There is nothing real, or likable, about Dan in real life. The movie meant to represent a real human being's foibles, sorrows and feelings. Instead, we are treated to affable Steve Carell using his... (More)

A Cow You'll Love Steve Carell In This. (2008-10-18)

I had the chance to watch Dan in Real Life, starring Steve Carell and Juliette Binoche, this week, and may I just say that I'm beginning to think Steve Carell can play whatever role he chooses? The... (More)
