Scary But a Little Short (2007-12-12)
|
I have been obsessed with Stephen King’s movies ever since I saw “IT” when I was 9. They are some of the few movies in the horror genre that still truly scare me. Unlike many of the slasher films of today, these movies have the ability to strike fear into your heart without all the special effects, scary music, and stupid bad guys. Now, don’t get me wrong, King’s films still have all these aspects, but the movies wouldn’t NEED them to still be horrifying. The newest installment to the King movie collection is “The Mist”, a film that I was STUPID to go to alone… (I REALLY need to get myself some friends). My advice to you is to NOT see this film IF:
1) You are afraid of any kind of bugs, insects, or arachnids, or
2) You are the type of person who needs closure, who needs s to know WHY everything happened, and needs even a slightly explanatory ending.
Because all in all, this movie wasn’t bad. It was an excellently creative idea, and was put together wonderfully, but for me, the ending ruined it all. I can honestly say that this movie SCARED me, and I can’t admit to that very often. The acting was amazing, and Marcia Gay Harden gave an excellent performance as the town’s local super-religious psycho. (Since we all know every small town has at least ONE of those). But I need closure to my films, and this one just didn’t really offer much of it.
