Cow (2007-10-04)

I took my granddaughter to the new Drew Barrymore movie, Never Been Kissed this last weekend. I guess that since I've been kissed personally, it didn't have the same draw for me as it did for the younger generation. I'm not that fond of Miss Barrymore, since her acting skills have not progressed since she was a tottler starting in ET, the extra-terrestrial, but the film was pleasant and had some funny moments. My granddaughter was a bit bored since she is not quite old enough to understand the "high school" jokes, but she wasn't disappointed all together. Miss Barrymore plays a frumpy newspaper copy editor trying to go undercover in a high school to get some fresh stories. She has to get by her own memories of being a high school loser and finds out that there is only a slim line between being popular and being an outsider. Gomer knows this feeling all too well. Always the outsider in and out of school, Gomer has never quite fit in. Poor Gomer. Even now that he is over 50, I'm still not sure he has ever been kissed. Go rent this movie Gomer, but it's not worth seeing at the theatre. Cow.
