A Nice Modern Take on Film Noir (2007-12-09)
I very much enjoyed this avant garde, film noir take by Shane Black. You can expect great acting (with the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer on board), a witty, twisting script, and something completely different from your typical action/comedy flick. Cock-a-doodle-doo!

An Underappreciated Action Comedy (2009-08-07)
'80s wunderkind Shane Black updates the buddy-action movie with great performances and unexpected twists. One of the better performances of late from Val Kilmer (also see Spartan) and features a very funny Robert Downey at his best. Val Kilmer does a riff on "talking money" that makes me laugh just thinking about it. See this movie, on Blu if possible.

Over and Over Again (2009-07-20)
Amazingly enough some movies stay with you after you watch it on screen. I nearly checked every day the dvd release date, after I watched it on a nearly empty movie theater in New York.
Sharp witted commentary through the movie keeps you laughing, and unexpected twists and turns makes you scream. Especially the dog scene was amazing. And hats off to Robert Downey Jr.; nobody else can make you scream with laughter one moment, sad the next.
I think I will watch it again tonight!

For The Love Of God, Don't Do It! (2009-06-26)
What can I say but everything you know is wrong. How many paid shills are on this board raving about this boxoffice flop? The reason Kiss Kiss Bang Bang flopped is because the movie stinks with a captiol S. This is a movie that tries to be too snarky for its own good. Do yourself a big favor and don't buy this movie. Do something better with you time like go help blind kids. Anything is better than sitting through this unfunny film noir wannabe piece of drek.

Interesting But Not Compelling (2009-06-26)
A basic murder mystery type of multiple people pursuing slowly unraveled motives. You can read other reviews to a more detailed grasp for the movie, but the bottom line is the movie is uncompelling. There is a certain intangible that turns a good movie into a great movie, assuming that the movie has a strong plot, good directing and a good cast, which this mostly does have. But whatever that extra ethereal quality is, its lacking, and the movie stays at the limited viewer engagement level throughout. Its hard to articulate why, but despite the good cast and interesting-enough storyline, it lacks the wow factor. I do have to say, though, that the decision to cast either Corbin Bernsen or Val Kilmer in a movie anytime after 2005 is certainly a dubious decision; casting them both seems downright shameful.

this is one of my favorite movies and i'm glad it's out on blu-ray. it has a great plot line (although a little complicated), really witty dialogue, and a great cast. if you are a robert downey jr. or val kilmer fan, i highly recommend it.

Great Movie (No Kidding) (2009-03-27)
Best not-seen movie of the last few years. Made about $12.00 in the theaters, doing better as a DVD. I love this movie. Very dry, very droll, very funny, great voice-over by Downey, good writing.

A Good Romp with Some Sly Laughs and Romance (2009-03-27)
I enjoyed this film because it is not too formulaic, quite funny at times and has a poignant story line. Robert Downey is pretty convincing as a ne'er do well transplant from New York but the real treat is Val Kilmer who plays a gay private eye/movie consultant deftly and never goes over the top with his performance. He and Robert Downey Jr. have good on-screen chemistry and this coupled with some sardonic dialogue makes for a few good laughs. Michelle Monaghan plays well as a striking Midwest girl in search of the Hollywood lights who is also Downey Jr.'s first love and therein lies a sweet and romantic story element. I will not say too much for fear of spoiling the story but I do recommend this film because it is fresh, has a lot of heart and strength in its nuances.

Private Eye Horsplay and Wit (2009-02-25)
If you like a quick witted and fast talking dialogue- this is sure to please! Robert Downey Jr. is at the top of his game playing a petty thief turned actor/PI. Val Kilmer acts as his coach in the life of being a PI- discovering unexpected twists and turns as they team up. Worth a try!

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2009-02-01)
I enjoyed this unusual detective story. Most good detective stories have narration, but this wasn't at all like those others. The movie pokes some fun throughout and it doesn't distract from the story so it enhances the experience. Robert Downey Jr. plays a small time thief that lucks into an audition for a detective movie. When he becomes involved with consulting a real gay detective played by Val Kilmer and a high school crush, things get weird but interesting. The mystery will keep you guessing till the end. I recommend it. Good quality DVD with good replayability. If you enjoyed this catch "Mr. and Mrs. Smith".
